New Bishop

St Mary’s was the venue on 16 January 2010 for the election of the new bishop of Glasgow and Galloway. The Very Rev Gregor Duncan was elected and will be consecrated in St Mary’s on 23 April 2010 at 6.30 pm. There will also be a special Diocesan Evensong on 25 April 2010 at 6.30 pm.



Welcome

Welcome to St Mary’s, the Cathedral Church for the Episcopal Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway. Sunday services take place at 0830, 1030 and 1830. All Welcome.



Epiphany

There will be a special services for Epiphany at 0830, 1030 and 1830 on 3 January. On this day we celebrate the discovery of Jesus by the Magi who came from the East and begin the Epiphany season in which we are all invited to search for God.



Carol Service – Today at 6.30 pm

The St Mary’s Carol Service takes place at 6.30 pm today, Sunday 20 December 2009. It will feature the full Cathedral choir of adults and trebles & traditional and modern carols. All Welcome.



World AIDS Day Service

The service for World AIDS Day takes place on 1 December 2009 at 7 pm. Featuring speakers, Sheboom Drummers and Glasgow Gospel Choir. Organised by a range of AIDS agencies in the city. All Welcome



Advent Carol Service

There will be an Advent Carol Service in St Mary’s at 6.30 pm on 29 November 2009. Seasonal music from the choir and Advent Carols for everyone to join in. All Welcome



Quiet Day for Scotland

St Mary’s Cathedral is one of three local churches which will be open for quiet prayer and reflection for the Quiet Day for Scotland promoted by Action for Churches Together in Scotland on 28 November 2009.
Lansdowne Parish Church from 10.00am-12.00 noon
St Mary’s from 12.00 noon-2.00pm
St Columba’s Roman Catholic Church from 2.00pm-4.00pm



All Saints

The Feast of All Saints will be celebrated on Sunday 1 November 2009. At these services we remember all the heroes of faith, giving thanks for those who have built the church and also for all those who have passed faith on to us.



Creation Sunday

25 October will be marked as a special Creation Sunday in St Mary’s. The music and preaching at the 10.30 am service with all reflect the theme of thanksgiving for creation.



Services for St Francis

The 10.30 am and 6.30 pm services on 4 October will mark the Feast of St Francis of Assisi and will include Franciscan prayers and hymns.
